About the Ceremony
Jimmy Rogers and Eleanor Roy were married in an intimate elopement ceremony officiated by Senator Tim Kaine on May 10, 2024 in their home of Fairfax County, Virginia. They were joined by their best friends Lily Franklin, Tonya James, and Cat Hurlburt, as well as Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff. Staying true to their roots, Jimmy and Eleanor's ceremony followed a campaign office opening at the Biden-Harris headquarters in Northern Virginia.

About the Couple

It started with an oppo book…
Jimmy and Eleanor met in March 2023 at a political fundraiser in Northern Virginia. Both were campaign managers - Jimmy for Senator Dave Marsden, Eleanor for Lily Franklin (her best friend who ran for Delegate). Jimmy asked for Eleanor's number and called her that night. Jimmy said he was considering running in a primary race against Sen. Kaine next year and asked if Eleanor would run his campaign. She responded with respectful but sincere concern, noting that such a campaign against 'America's Dad' would be dead on arrival. Jimmy never intended to do such a thing, but Eleanor’s compassionate (and rational) response left him smitten.
Jimmy and Eleanor initially bonded over a mutual disdain for ultra-conservative Congressman Bob Good of Virginia’s 5th District. Eleanor let Jimmy know she was interested in him, too, by mailing him her Bob Good opposition research book she'd compiled while running Josh Throneburg's congressional campaign in 2022. It was the perfect move, and Jimmy and Eleanor started dating. Those first dates were filled with door knocking, campaign fundraisers, parades, and trips to the Virginia Department of Elections.
But there was one problem: Eleanor lived in Blacksburg, nearly four hours away. After securing a 26-point victory in Sen. Marsden’s race in June, Jimmy went to Southwest Virginia to run Trish White-Boyd’s campaign for Senate (but really so he could be with Eleanor every day). The couple now lives in Fairfax and remains active in Democratic politics.
They decided to tie the knot in true political-operative form: officiated by Sen. Kaine, at a campaign office opening, joined by the Second Gentleman, and surrounded by their best friends (and the Secret Service).
